Only three more years of this nonsense and then ten years to fix the damage, pat yourself on the back now but when the hens come to roost because of your ego fueled judgments we will see the results. Why did we see unheard of before demonstrations at the legislature if your policies were so right? Why is the unemployment rising if your Labor programs are so great? Why are investors leaving the province if your vision for Alberta is so stable? Why has Alberta credit rating fallen four times in five months if your policies are so strong? These are the questions you should be checking.
The wildfires drew the public attention and disdain away from you and your philosophical ideas for this province and the ineptness of your caucus to perform. “Oh yes,” you will garner accolades from your NDP supporters on this day, but the truth remains your leadership has drawn this province into the deepest and darkest times its populace has ever faced. History has never seen the depth of political separation the population in Alberta is dealing with and has ever had as a problem.
Your personal desire to save the world’s environment and statements that previous leadership dodged the issue (perhaps they didn’t buy into the Global Warming hype and recognized natural conditions prevailed) will rule the day because you have the majority, however, will be short-lived once the populace realizes the error of their decision.
You might want to think this through you did not win your majority as the popular vote you won because of a swing vote of Albertans, who were tired of the form of government offered. Your political platform was not the reason as you erroneously believe so make hay while you can as like you say the change will happen. In a previous open letter of appeal, I asked you to use caution in bringing forward your policy. Your reply to the public was “Climate change is real, and we have to move forward” No one is disputing Climate change is happening however how we approach it and what we sensibly can do about it is what sensible Albertans want to hear. Not taxing billions of dollars from Albertans based on your personal beliefs fostered in Global Warming farcical panic realistically is not the answer. What I believe Albertans are looking for is sound leadership based on intelligently grounded decisions (not Global Warming Farcical idioms) which will move Alberta forward economically and environmentally. Albertans recognize technology is lacking in this field but is changing and becoming more efficient and reasonably priced allowing for a sensible approach without bankrupting a province while moving forward.
Blow your trumpets and rejoice now as time will erode your glory very quickly as other politically founded environmentalists in AB have found it’s short-lived.
So as a concerned small business person born and raised in an Alberta, I could be proud to say I worked hard to contribute to and was grateful for the lifestyle, Alberta offered. Do I see anything to be cheering about or to look forward to other than higher taxes and increased costs to operate my business?
Do I see a bright future ahead for Alberta or do I foresee a has been debt-riddled so-called environmentally leading province no one internationally cares about limping through the future garnering provincial jobs with little or very limited private underfunded sector opportunities?
If you call this progress and something to be proud of then both you and Brian Mason can be proud of your achievements and take selfies pat yourselves on the back and proclaim to the world and NDP supporters how great a job you have done in bringing Alberta down economically and in status “Job well done”
Remember these are just the opinions of a hard-working born and raised Alberta business person trying to survive.
