For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words, thou shalt be condemned. Matt.12:37.
PRE-AMBLE by Robert.
When we hear or use the words Austerity, Austere, or Ascetic, immediately we look for financial hardship or denial of life’s luxuries on the part of individuals or groups of people. This article will bring a different perspective to these words, there different meanings and effect on our journey. When I researched Austerity several different definitions were revealed describing its purpose and use. The Lord has brought forward, through the Holy Spirit, information showing, Austerity, and Austere exist within the ranks of His flock. We will explore a spin-off, Ascetic, as part of our journey asking is it what’s called for within our walk. In the overall picture, we will be able to identify those groups of believers walking in Spiritual Austerity. Knowledge is protection from deception and temptations, our constant battles.
OPENING PRAYER by Robert
Heavenly Father, our petition is for those who have strayed from the flock. Remove the scales of delusion so your light and truth will be seen. Bring them closer to your bosom Father that you might wrap your wings around them to nurture and comfort them so they might feel your love. Remove the false teachings from their minds Lord release your wisdom into their lives through the Holy Spirit. Bring them to an understanding they have strayed and are not lost but wandering and if they receive your light and word will again find the path to life and eternity. Release your Love and compassion unto them, Lord. This we pray in your name Yeshua. Amen and Amen.
OPENING STATEMENT by Robert
The following is a commentary by John Calvin (1509 – 1564) quoted from an article WHAT IT IS TO KNOW GOD,–TENDENCY OF HIS KNOWLEDGE. “But although our minds cannot conceive of God, without rendering some worship to him, it will not, however, be sufficient simply to hold that he is the only being whom all ought to worship and adore, unless we are also persuaded that he is the fountain of all goodness and that we must seek everything in him, and in none but him. My meaning is: we must be persuaded not only that as he once formed the world, so he sustains it by his boundless power, governs it by his wisdom, preserves it by his goodness, in particular, rules the human race with justice and Judgment, bears with them in mercy, shields them by his protection; but also that not a particle of light, or wisdom, or justice, or power, or rectitude, or genuine truth, will anywhere be found, which does not flow from him, and of which he is not the cause; in this way we must learn to expect and ask all things from him, and thankfully ascribe to him whatever we receive.”
“For this sense of the divine perfections is the proper master to teach us piety, out of which religion springs. By piety, I mean that union of reverence and love to God which the knowledge of his benefits inspires. I believe the following statement by Reverend
Calvin (1509 – 1564) is a solid definition of what true Spiritual Austerity is; “For, until men feel that they owe everything to God, that they are cherished by his paternal care, and that he is the author of all their blessings, so that naught is to be looked for away from him, they will never submit to him in voluntary obedience; nay, unless they place their entire happiness in him, they will never yield up their whole selves to him in truth and sincerity.”
Reverend Calvin (1509 – 1564) continues his commentary: “The effect of our knowledge rather ought to be, first, to teach us reverence and fear; and, secondly, to induce us, under its guidance and teaching, to ask every good thing from him, and, when it is received, ascribe it to him. For how can the idea of God enter your mind without instantly giving rise to the thought, that since you are his workmanship, you are bound, by the very law of creation, to submit to his authority? That your life is due to him? That whatever you do ought to have reference to him? If so, it undoubtedly follows that your life is sadly corrupted, if it is not framed in obedience to him, since his will ought to be the law of our lives. On the other hand, your idea of his nature is not clear unless you acknowledge him to be the origin and fountain of all goodness.”
CLOSING COMMENTS by Robert
Our journey will take us through many different scenarios. There will be times of beauty and times of unrest. Each represents a balance in our mission. The Holy Spirit brought me to an opportunity to share my witness and testimony with a young woman who believes there is no God. Her walk is centered deeply in works and being a good person. She is not an atheist but does not believe in spirits or spirituality. As our conversation grew more in-depth, she asked me if I was easily offended? Because she did not want to do so by stating her belief, “there is no God.” I replied this was not offensive to me, but rather a spiritual choice she was making and did not affect me.
The Holy Spirit showed me, to be open, and explain what I was hoping to achieve with her, seed planting. I asked her if she knew what a mustard seed became when planted in fertile soil. She replied how does that question apply to our conversation? I stated my position was to plant a seed of info in what was being shown to me as a very gentle spirited individual who doesn’t believe in the one who created her.
The Lord was showing me through my testimony and witness even though the replies I was hearing were negative, a seed of resonating information the size of a mustard seed had been planted with this young woman. And through the parable, our Lord brought to us in Matthew 13:32 What indeed is the least of all seeds, but when grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.
As an earlier article revealed there are many bends in our journey, and we know not what is around the curve. This young woman in her statements about desiring to help others, her ability to be considerate and caring about others revealed the information I was presenting to her was like the mustard seed being planted in fertile soil. The Holy Spirit revealed my work with her was done, now it was time for God’s words to take root. Our journey will take us through many different scenarios. There will be times of beauty and times of unrest. I was fortunate at this time to witness our Father using me like an obedient servant to plant a mustard seed in fertile soil for harvesting at a later date.
Blessings to all as you enter this day not knowing who our Lord is going to bring into your life so He might use you to plant the knowledge of His existence as a mustard seed for future harvesting.
Some will fall into the trap of an Ascetic Spiritual existence, placing themselves into God’s judgment seat condemning those who walk in Spiritual Austerity. The following definition I believe explains why this path is chosen. Meriam Webster Dictionary definition of Ascetic: relating to or having a strict and simple way of living that avoids physical pleasure. The practice of strict self-denial as a measure of personal and especially spiritual discipline. Thus the belief they are serving God to the maximum.
In every belief system, there are those who go to the extreme in their walk, and belief in Yeshua is no exception. Society calls these individuals radicals who create skepticism, fear, and repulsion towards God’s love.
Going through the worldly News, it becomes clear the Assembly of God and those worshipping His Son Yeshua are under intense attack. Here in North America personal attack is not prolific yet. However, the offense is there; it is a verbal and spiritual attack sniping, ridiculing, name calling and many other atrocities toward the flock.
I believe we all have experienced a major storm one that warrants public warning of its impending presence and danger. We listen intently to the warnings and seek a safe shelter to ride it out.
What I want to point out is the weather condition just before the storm making its entrance into our lives. When you stop, look, and listen, what you sense is a complete calm an eerie silence and heavy dead air filled with emptiness.
This comparison is God’s way of warning us, and a message to all to get things right in His children’s lives as a severe Spiritual attack is coming against His flock. This current period of calm gives His flock time to prepare themselves spiritually for the upcoming spiritual battles believers are about to face. Just like when we receive a warning of severe and dangerous weather to seek a safe location. The difference is one will be a spiritual battle to be fought. The other will be gain a safe abode to deal with what you cannot face safely or control.
As followers of Yeshua, we are and are being prepared as His Warriors to face spiritually what is approaching. We are given the following from Proverbs 3:25-26 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolations of the wicked when it cometh. V26. For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
This commentary from Matthew Henry relating King Solomon’s wisdom reveals our preparation and the weapons we will possess for use against what is about to occur to those in the flock. “Let us not suffer Christ’s words to depart from us, but keep sound wisdom and discretion; then shall we walk safely in his ways. The natural life and all that belongs to it shall be under the protection of God’s providence; the spiritual life, and all its interests, under the protection of his grace, so that we shall be kept from falling into sin or trouble.” “To have them always in view.” “My son, let them not depart from thy eyes let not thy eyes ever depart from them to wander after vanity.”
The way of duty is the way of safety. ” We are in danger of falling, but wisdom will keep thee, that thy foot shall not stumble at those things which are an offense and overthrow to many, but which thou shalt know how to get over.”
The harms which surprise us, unthought of, giving us no time to arm ourselves by consideration, are most likely to put us into confusion. But let not the wise and good man forget himself, and then he will not give way to any fear that has torment, be the alarm ever so sudden. Let him not fear the desolation of the wicked, when it comes, that is, though God may make use of the wicked as instruments of His people’s correction, yet he will never suffer them to be the authors of their destruction.
Like every storm, there is a beginning and a passing through to the end. Make this time of calmness your opportunity to gain wisdom and ability to learn the application of applying it with discernment.
CLOSING PRAYER by Robert
Heavenly Father, as we bow before your throne and lay our petitions before you, we ask you to hear our prayers. As our days become more treacherous and dangerous, we pray Lord for your guidance. We recognize Father those who desire to harm or prevent us from doing your work, they do not accept you or your compassion, forgiveness, or love. We give praise Lord for the protection you place us under and acknowledge You alone are our helper and uphold our souls. We know Father you will reward evil unto our enemies cutting them off in your truth. We know Father it is You who will deliver us from all sin. This we give thanks for in the name of your Son, Yeshua, Amen, and Amen.
Blessings to all, and hold this “For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken. Remember these articles are messages given unto a humble servant as a Watchmen sounding the Trumpet of impending danger ahead. May our Father abundantly fill your plates. God’s blessings Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hands. Psalm 149:6
