Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
The goal for most individuals is to provide a comfortable life for themselves and family. Their priority is to achieve a level of worldly wisdom which will place them in the highest ranks of accomplishment, affording them a large piece of the monetary pie possible. As well an opportunity to shine as an achiever in the eyes of the world, the more initials behind the name the more prowess afforded by those in the world, the greater slice of the proverbial monetary pie and higher position on the carnal status ladder.
In this process of achievement one thing possibly more, have spiritually been set aside, leaving a void identified as ignorance to God’s laws and their function in our lives.
This void then becomes the doorway for Satan to offer his temptation for men to choose which path to follow. In past articles it was identified Satan uses our ignorance to God’s laws quite successfully against us.
The temptation set before the Lord was a pledge to make all the riches and powers of the world his for the taking, all he had to do was bow down to Satan and immediately states it is written Matthew 4:10-11
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
He who aims at the same mind which was in Christ Jesus, will glory in bearing the last testimony to his Saviour’s goodness, and in telling to all around, the obligations with which the unmerited goodness of God has bound him.
One may guess how people stand affected to God, by observing how they stand affected to his people and ministers.
It has been the lot of the best and most useful men, like Elijah, to be called and counted the troublers of the land. But those who cause God’s judgments do the mischief, not he that foretells them, and warns the nation to repent.
