March 21, 2022, Kenya update on the NETWORK’s progression. After prayer and lengthy planning, an original approach has been added to our offering of assistance. Starting March 9th, 2022, the assistance is going out as group gardens and flocks. ‘As well the NETWORK is placing Orphans with consenting Widows to bring them into their homes to be cared for as a family. In these pictures below Orphans and widows are being vetted for placement.

The next part of this innovative approach is the development of the groups of widows creating their own market to offer crafts, one-of-a-kind clothing, and assorted unique items for sale, which will include vegetables, once the gardens are harvested. The approach is to make the Market unique in the sense it will offer exclusive items, for example, compost as fertilizer. And as time progresses there will be many other unique items.

I Want to point out the young man in the picture is stacking the bricks he made for selling, to create a college fund to complete his education, this is possible through the support the NETWORK provided for him and his siblings with a garden so they could sustain themselves and move forward in life.

Bishop Evans has delivered some 120 chicks to three different group projects in various counties and is arranging for Orphan placement in these groups.

With all of these changes, it has become important to educate, meaning that the groups are meeting weekly and through Bishop Mukwa are receiving advice and direction in gardening, animal care, and flock maintenance. Some instructions on how to formulate compost and importantly how to manage and maintain their market. All these activities are designed to create an atmosphere of self-reliance and preservation. We believe the orphan program is a win, win for both parties.

The group known as Kenyan Widow’s Empowerment Group organized by Bishop Davis is organizing and conducting a fundraiser to collect enough to purchase 2 mattresses for two widows currently in need. This is an example of the movement forward being stimulated by the NETWORK. This group assisted in the building of a new home pictured below for a widow and family. The other pictures are of the group distribution from the NETWORK of some Fifty chicks.

As the growing season is fast approaching the NETWORK has two one-acre plots we will be seeding with vegetables, beans, corn, cabbage, melons and pumpkins for marketing. The corn is to be turned into mash for the husbandry and birds. As a side note, one of the ducks is currently sitting on ten eggs, and the goats are pregnant, we have had an increase in our rabbit population which has increased from 3 to 22+. Turkeys are doing well and maturing. Please note we will be able to do two harvests from our plots. The bean crop has been harvested and is currently drying so we can thrash them and determine our final Kilograms of beans obtained for this spring’s distribution.

There are two requests for assistance that are being put into place one is an ongoing education fund for the Orphans being placed so they can be registered for schooling. The second request is funding for mattresses to be distributed.
