Exodus 20:4 KJV
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Leviticus 19:4 KJV
Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the Lord your God.
When we look into this Commandment it becomes important to look at all aspects. Many only look at the created molten and or carved idols. However, as pointed out in Leviticus 19:4 not to turn unto idols. Meaning on a mental level don’t create an image or thought in your mind of an idol.
The purpose of these articles is to provide information on how Satan uses our ignorance of God’s laws to tempt us to separate from God. To know, understand and gain knowledge, which becomes ammunition to overcome Satan’s actions, lies, and deceptions which draw us away from God and His presence.
This is confirmed by the Jewish worship and customs in sacrifice. The apostle applies this to feasting with idolaters. Eating food as part of a heathen sacrifice was worshipping the idol to whom it was made, and having fellowship or communion with it; just as he who eats the Lord’s supper, is accounted to partake in the Christian sacrifice, or as they who ate the Jewish sacrifices partook of what was offered on their altar. It was denying Christianity; for communion with Christ, and communion with devils could never be had at once. If Christians venture into places, and join in sacrifices to the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life, they will provoke God.
It is these three areas of our lives many create mental idols some unknowingly some completely aware of.
Many do not realize they err in their interpretation. Example not all idols are fixed images some are purely on a mental level and deeply affect the Ecclesia.
These idolatrous ways brought murmuring forward and caused the 40 years of wandering in the desert, while God purged them. Sadly, this journey is being repeated. Numbers 14:27-29,31-35 KJV
27 How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me. Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the Lord, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: Your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me, But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, they will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised. But as for you, your carcasses, they shall fall in this wilderness. And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcasses are wasted in the wilderness. After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise. I the Lord have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, which are gathered against me: in this wilderness, they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.
Here is where the comparison between what God pledged for the Israelites a physical new land and for those of us coming out of Satan’s bondage and slavery God promised eternal life in His presence through His Son.
Romans 8:3 KJV
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
To claim this pledge of Eternal life we are to develop a personal relationship with Yeshua to reconnect with His Father to be in His presence Eternally.
How then is there a resemblance between the two? The Lord made the Israelites wander for 40 years. Today’s churches caught up in the world will be faced with numerous plagues and the purging of our Lord will prevail Peter 2:17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved forever. 2:18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. 2:19 While they promise them liberty, the y themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
Until Yeshua’s lifting out of those righteous in His eyes. 1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
The comparison is such where Numbers 14:2 And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! 14:3 And wherefore has the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? Were it not better, for us to return to Egypt?
The description of how both are erring before God is found in Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse, 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 1:23 And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.
In this wisdom the worldly assemblies felt that the world’s wisdom needed to be added as programs to assist the congregations, they brought in Psychology programs, removed that God would chasten evil and teach He is a loving and all-forgiving Father. They allowed Sodomites and Lesbians into their congregations, eventually performing same-sex marriages. All of this is contrary to God’s position. Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, ill will; whisperers,1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,1:31 Without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, refusing to reconcile, unmerciful:1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same but have pleasure in them that do them.
To add context to my closing statement I am quoting a discerning brother (Pastor Bob Woodward) who is sharing his light into this darkening world. Good morning from Strafford Mo. The temperature is 45 and the forecast high is 63 with morning rain. … In Matthew 28:19 Jesus told his followers, go into all the world and make disciples of every nation. A disciple is a student or pupil, one that is so committed to the teacher that they emulate their teacher in every way. A disciple of Christ is one who 1. Chooses Christ above all else. 2. Forsakes anything and everything that is contrary to the teaching of Christ 3. Excepts all the teaching of their teacher without question. 4. Strives to make followers after the same manner as the one he follows. 5. Continually grows in the precepts of the life of the teacher. … Father as we study your word make it so much a part of us that it defines us as yours. Put within us the first rule, that of love 💘 especially love 💘 for those who choose to be our antagonist. In the name of Yeshua make us like Yeshua, Amen 🙏
In our world today we are surrounded by many different forms of idols some physical some spiritual. Idols can be a hero, an Icon or a particular object we place great store and pride in, causing us to idolize it.
Know, one and all, to walk as Yeshua did, following in His footsteps being the example means to suffer as he did means to live with the ridicule and mockery as he did, means to enter into Crucifixion as he did, how many will be disciples how many will follow as the 12 did learning being educated to be different to walk against the grain, to stand out in the crowd being distinct sharing God’s love and forgiveness. To walk as our Saviour means to know living in faith, by faith, with faith, sacrificing today’s worldly comforts and receiving heavenly comforts.
Possibly more difficult than one may recognize, as these comforts may be part of the idols I spoke of.
Our Lord declared he had no place to lay his head, how many worship in comfort and leisure, with a warm bed and full cupboards, freezers, and fridges, not concerned for a meal. How many modern-day disciples are willing to share with those less fortunate, how many will like the young man Yeshua asked to sacrifice, will walk away as he did unwilling to give up his comforts and leisures (now being identified as possible idols).
It is easy, like Peter, to say, Lord, I will follow you wherever, only to hear the Cock crow twice and in your heart deny that sacrifice. It is easy to worship in comfort but when the chips are down, which is coming shortly, how will you react to being a devoted follower as Pastor Woodward described?
Look at all before you, understand as disciples we will be asked and in some cases demanded to sacrifice both physically and spiritually, as Yeshua the one we worship did, if we follow as a disciple, my question are you prepared to suffer so others will follow that narrow path, as Yeshua said, few will find it, as well, Isaiah explains only those worthy will walk it.
Thank you brother for sharing the truth. Your light shines brightly into the darkness befalling our world know the truth and overcome evil, as his learned ones sharing that light willingly as your sacrifice, which Yeshua so willingly suffered in our names. Are you prepared?
Remember these articles are published by an obedient servant. Thank you for your courage in seeking truth and Eternal life. Never stop building your relationship with our Savior recognize each chapter and verse you research is drawing you closer to Him. May all go in peace, knowledge and God’s compassion.
John 14:6 KJV
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
